As part of a print campaign for Orange (the phone company) promoting recycling old phones, a little robot by the name of Mobo made an appearance in some unexpected places.
A photo-integration job placing a 3d model of Mobo into a selection of images. There was no camera metadata to speak of, so matching was done by eye, and most of the backplates also needed a fair bit of corrective surgery – painting out people to make way for Mobo, extending the image, etc.
I worked through the full process on the the grass, factory and wall images. from cleaning up the backplate, to matching the camera and lighting in 3d and compositing the final images.
Software used on this project was a lot of Photoshop, Softimage, Arnold Render and Nuke.
